Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to book in advance?
Yes. Every visit is personally hosted by our family. We kindly ask you to contact us at info@vino-lovrec.hr at least one day in advance. We respond quickly and love welcoming guests!
Are your wines certified organic?
Yes. All our wines hold an official organic certification which we must renew every year. We receive the certificate if everything meets the standards — first for the grapes, then for the wine — each year through rigorous inspections. We have been officially in organic production since 2015, and we were the first winery in Međimurje to transition to certified organic viticulture and winemaking.
What languages are wine tastings available in?
We host tastings personally in Croatian, English, French, and German.
What makes Vino Lovrec historically unique?
Our estate is home to the oldest preserved wine cellar in Međimurje, dating from the 16th century, with barrels in use since 1822. The Lovrec Ethnographic Collection is listed in the Croatian Cultural Heritage Registry. Two sycamore trees, guardians and natural “air conditioners” of the old cellar, are approximately three hundred years old.
What wine varieties do you produce?
We produce white wines under our Natale solum label: Sauvignon, Welschriesling, Rhine Riesling, Pinot Gris, Yellow Muscat, and Traminer. We also offer Pinot Gris Rosé, our Knight’s Red wine, and Merlot. We produce two sparkling wines using the traditional method — Vivace Brut from Green Silvaner, and the sweeter demi-sec Libiamo Rosé from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah. We occasionally also offer cold-pressed grapeseed oil.
Can I buy wines without doing a tasting?
Yes. Our wine shop is open year-round by appointment. Wines are also available at Vinoteka Vino Lovrec in Varaždin and through our web shop at vino-lovrec.hr.
Are pets welcome?
Yes! Vino Lovrec is a pet friendly destination.
When is the visiting season?
We host educational wine tastings from May 20 to November 15 for individual guests and small groups of up to 20 people.
